Benefits of physical activities in primary prevention of sarcopenia
- Univerzita Karlova Praha, Fakulta tělesné výchovy a sportu, Katedra fyziologie a biochemie
Currently, there is an increased interest in diseases associated with aging because the percentage of the elderly worldwide is increasingly high. Therefore, research aimed at treatment of diseases associated with aging is becoming more and more important. Sarcopenia characterized as a geriatric syndrome with a multifactorial etiology is one of the most discussed topics related to aging. Although the reasons for the emergence of sarcopenia are varied, several studies have suggested that an active lifestyle with sufficient exercise may be considered an effective therapeutic approach in primary sarcopenia prevention.
