The aim of this pilot study was to analyze the pre-game warm-up of two European teams - FC Barcelona, AC Milan and two national teams - Spanish and Czech ones. The data were gathered during the qualification period for the European Championship in Poland in 2012 and during the contest period of the Champions League in the 2011/2012 season. Different types of warm-up activities were analyzed. We compared individual variances of pre-game warm-ups between clubs and national teams. We focused on performance, time allotment, contents of warm-up activities and frequency of exercises. The analysis confirmed similarity in pre-game warm-up exercises of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. These teams prefer dynamic stretching to static one in their pre-game warm-up. The preferred type of stretching activates a larger number of muscle groups, allowing them to retain their elasticity and protecting them against injury.
