The aim of the present study was to analyze and compare the impact of inhalation of oxygen to concentrate power in swimming underwater in recreational athletes who were students of the Department of Physical Education and Sports in Banská Bystrica and top and professional athletes who were swimmers from VSC Dukla Banska Bystrica. The test set consisted of recreational athletes T1 n = 17 students and elite athletes T2 consisted of n = 12 swimmers. Both sets of test conducted tests on two consecutive days, where their task was after 5 minute warm-up and warm up the joint 500 meters inhale oxygen concentrate / placebo for 2 minutes. Subsequently, the role of a test batch of the maximum distance to cut through the water with one touch of a current reflection from the edge of the pool. To determine the significance of differences between the distance swimming under water after application of the inhalation of oxygen concentrate and the distance after application of a placebo was used the Paired-Samples T test (t, α = 0.05). For the calculation of effect size was used Cohenov coefficient "d". Statistical analysis was realized with the software IBM c SPSS c Statistics V19. The test results showed on average the individual differences between oxygen and placebo in the research file T1 of 6.89 % and in the research file T2 of 7.24 %. The statistical analysis showed that the difference between the distance after inhaling the oxygen of the concentrate and after application of placebo was significant (t(16) = -10.101, p < 0.05, d = 2.45 - large effect) in both groups. The statistical analysis showed that the difference between the distance after inhaling the oxygen of the concentrate and after application of placebo was significant (t(16) = -10.101, p < 0.05, d = 2.45 - large effect) in both groups.
