The purpose of the present study was to determine a specific structure in timing of six selected muscles during rowing on a single scull and during knee bend, to learn about postural-locomotive movement patterns in muscular coordination. We focused on changes in onsets and cessations on each muscle activity. Our early work has suggested that rowing technique of legs work may correspond to the technique of knee bend. This study sought to test this hypothesis. By surface electromyography we recorded muscular activity and involvement throughout mean cycle of the knee bend and of the rowing stroke. Participants of this study were seven highly trained athletes, members of Dukla Praha rowing club. They performed three two minute trials of each activity. Results showed that mutual correlation of mean EMG curves have not found any differences in intra-locomotive and inter-locomotive synchronization of measured muscles. Established values of Pearson's correlation showed high level of dynamic balance between both activities. Determination of the intramuscular timing was in the percentual results different. These findings suggest that muscular coordination was same in the both activities, but muscular activity loading was different.
