The contribution to the history of basketball in Czech lands until 1945

The presented article deals with the history of basketball in Czech lands until 1945. In Czech lands the basketball first showed up in Vysoké Mýto in 1897. Nevertheless it was more widely spread after the end of WWI. At the beginning of 1920s it was mainly played in the YMCA organisation. The new teams were founded afterwards and in 1924 the first Czech basketball federation was founded. Except from friendly matches, tournaments and Czech championship games, the Czechoslovak players played a lot of international games mainly in 1930s. But the basketball development in Czech lands was slowed down because of WWII.
