The aim of this contribution is to relate the contemporary trend toward the active lifestyle with economic conditions in the reality of present-day divided world. The author defines basic macroeconomical approaches, quantitative indicators and aims of the economical growth. The conclusion is that they are limited and one-sided from the point of view of uderstanding present-day life. The author states that the active lifestyle is a reflection and a targeted reaction to the negative consequences of the non-active lifestyle that has been set up by favouring the economical growth and consumerism in developed countries. In the sphere of food consumption, he highlights the negative phenomenon of consumerism - diseases affluence: overweight and obesity. He is trying to show how economical market features support their occurence. Their nature is explained also in the framework of contemporary information economics. The solution could be found not only in screening, but also in the global change of the consumer behavior by their education towards the active lifestyle and active well-being.
