The aim of this study is to discern a subjective appraisal of one's own body in adolescent girls (n = 82) as based on a figure test (reality versus ambition), with a special focus on the opinion discrepancies, all related to the fact whether the girls read or do not read magazines intended for this target group. Further, the research explored the examined girls' satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their bodies and their wish to put on, or lose weight. Out of a total of 82 girls, 61 girls (74,4 %) were devoted readers of the selected magazines. 21 girls (25,6 %) did not read the chosen magazines, or were interested in a different kind of magazines. The obtained data reveal that 3 girls (3,7 %) girls would like to have figure 1, just as 25 girls (30,6 %) ticked figure 2 as their ideal body. The most frequently chosen ideal body was figure 3, which was marked by 35 girls (42 %). Figure 4 was seen as ideal by 19 girls (23 %). Figures 5-9 were not ticked by the girls as ideal at all. Among those who do not read girls' magazines, in the total number (n = 21) there were 16 girls (76 %) who wished to have an ideal body, slimmer than the one they have now.
