The aim of the study was to evaluate the level of physical fitness components in children from the Liberec region from the international point of view expressed by the corresponding foreign studies. Liberec samples consisted of 131 boys and 132 girls aged 10-12 years. In the selection of foreign sources (16 countries) for comparison were taken into account: the methods of testing, the age structure, the number of individuals and the data topicality. Liberec children ranked in body composition in the upper half of the measured results straight behind North American and the Pyrenean populations. This is not good information from the health aspect. Contrary, positive results were obtained in aerobic capacity. Liberec boys lined up in the top half of the published results and the girls reached even the best results from all countries. The results of Liberec samples belong to the best of published in muscular strength and endurance of upper part of the body, abdominal muscles and also in the strength and flexibility of trunk extensors. The results show a discrepancy from health point of view between relatively unfavorable results in body composition and vice versa favorable values of aerobic capacity, strength dispositions and flexibility in Liberec children. This may indicate a potential problem with a tendency of decrease in the level of physical fitness.
