Orel in Slovakia and its disputes with Orel headquarters in Brno during 1930s

The presented article deals with the disputes of members of Orel in Slovakia with headquarter of the Czechoslovak Orel in Brno and their later efforts for independence. Czechoslovak Orel was the Catholic physical education association which structure changed a few times during interwar period. Several amendments of the statutes caused to considerable contradictions in Orel organization. The management of organization had disputes with members of Orel from Slovakia for almost entire 1930s. Slovaks increasingly called for independence, which they tried to achieve by many means. However, they did not succeed in gaining independence for a long time. The independent association Slovak Orol was established after the proclamation of Slovakia's autonomy. However, Slovak Orol did not rejoice from its existence for a long time. Its activities had to be terminated during the same year and Slovaks had to wait for its resume several decades.
