Influence of Three-month Movement Intervention on the Development of Selected Motor Predispositions of Preschool Children from Pilsen
- Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, Fakulta pedagogická, Centrum tělesné výchovy a sportu
The aim of the research study was to evaluate the effect of a three-month movement intervention on the level of development of selected motor predispositions of preschool children from Pilsen kindergartens, based on the results from the qualifying and final round of the Sports Games of Kindergartens. The final round takes place 12 weeks after the qualifiers. The research processes the results of twenty kindergartens (110 children – 53 girls and 57 boys). The individual disciplines in which the children compete is 4x6 m shuttle run, standing long jump, jumping/climbing over and climbing under an obstacle and one-handed overhead throw. We assumed that a three-month movement intervention would have a positive effect on the level of development of selected motor predispositions of preschool children. Fourteen kindergartens improved on average in all four disciplines. The statistical significance of the difference between the results of the qualifying and final round was tested by the Wilcoxon test. The assumption was confirmed at the significance level p < 0.001 in all disciplines (throw W = 1409, run W = 6035, jump W = 392 and obstacle W = 4761). The results point to the benefit of regular targeted exercise already in preschool age, which can positively influence the development of children’s motor predispositions.
