The aim of this study is to assess the applicability of children’s drawings as a participatory visual method in sport for development research, using the illustrative case of the Football for Development project (FFD). Visual artefacts created by children (n = 24) aged 9–13 and two physical education teachers capture their experience with the FFD project implemented in the communities of Río Arriva, La Manzana, and Los Canales in the Madriz region of Nicaragua. Interpretative phenomenological analysis combined with qualitative coding demonstrates that participants’ lived experiences can be meaningfully captured and analyzed through visual representations. The findings suggest that children’s drawings may constitute a rich source of qualitative data in phenomenological research on sport for development programs, particularly in contexts involving socioeconomically disadvantaged participants.
